Basantdut Krishi Anusandhan Private Limited

We are over here at Station Road in Bishnupur, right in the Bankura district. Most people around here know Bijoy Kr. Jalan, and that is where our main office is based. Basantdut Krishi Anusandhan Private Limited is a small group of us working on agricultural research. It gets pretty hot in Bankura during the summer months, but we stay busy with our notes and trials. We don’t have a big fancy office building or anything like that, just a workspace where we look at seeds and how crops grow in this specific soil. Being near the station makes it easy for people to find us when they come into town. Sometimes the trains are loud, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of our time talking to local farmers about what they need and looking at the data we collect from the fields nearby. It is quiet work mostly, just trying to figure out better ways for things to grow in this part of West Bengal. We’ve been here for a bit now, and people in the neighborhood usually just stop by to say hello or ask a quick question about their plants. We don't really do much advertising because most folk find out about us through word of mouth. It’s just how things work in Bishnupur. We keep things simple and try to be helpful whenever someone walks through the door looking for advice on their land.
