If you know Chikpet in Bangalore, you know how crowded and busy it gets. That is exactly where we are. Our shop, Shriarpitha Deepam Silks, is in the Garudachar Complex at number 235. We are on the ground floor, shop number one, right above where Hotel Vijay Vihar is. You can also look for Central Electricals to find the entrance. It’s a typical Chikpet setup—lots of rolls of fabric, bright lights, and people walking by all the time. We handle a lot of silk here. It’s a bit tight in the shop sometimes because we have so much stock piled up. You’ll hear the noise of the street and the smell of food from the hotel downstairs. We’ve been part of this market for a while. It’s not a fancy boutique with air conditioning that works all the time. It is a real market shop where we talk to customers and show them different materials. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a quick break. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know about silks and how to run a shop in a busy area. It gets very hectic during the wedding seasons when everyone wants something special. We just try to keep the stacks of silk organized so we can find what people want. It’s a noisy, colorful, and very busy way to spend the day, but we are used to it by now.
