Wadala Farmer Producer Company Limited is what we call our little group here in Sillod. Dattatray Trimbak Wadala helps keep us sorted at his spot in the village. We’re in the Aurangabad district, where the soil is good if you know how to treat it. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, following what our fathers did. We decided to start this company because doing everything alone was getting too expensive and complicated. Now we try to share the load a bit. It’s not always easy getting everyone to agree on things, but we manage. We grow various crops depending on what the weather allows. You won't find any slick businessmen here, just guys in dusty clothes who understand how to plant and harvest. Sometimes we have meetings under a tree or on a porch to talk about seeds and fertilizers. It’s a basic operation. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech gear, but we have years of experience with the land here in Wadala. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves. If the crop fails, we figure out a way to move on to the next season. It’s just how life is for us in this part of Aurangabad. We are just a group of local farmers trying to make a go of it by working together instead of fighting the market alone. It is hard work but we keep going.
