Vaijamahima Producer Company Limited

Our company is based in Aghoor, over in the Vaijapur area of the Aurangabad district. We run things from Mangalabai Manjahari Shinde’s place. It’s a local producer company where we all have a say. We don't have a big fancy office building. We mostly meet on the porch or in the yard to discuss what we’re going to plant. It’s a very local operation, focusing on the needs of the farmers right here in the village. We deal with whatever the season brings, whether it's cotton or grain. It’s hard work and the sun is hot, but we’re used to it. We started this to help our families get a bit more for their produce. There’s no big marketing strategy here. We just talk to each other and decide what’s best for the group. Sometimes we have meetings that go on for hours because everyone has a different opinion. But that’s how it works when you’re part of a community. We aren't looking to be famous. We just want to make sure the farming in Vaijapur stays strong. It’s a simple life, focused on the fields and the weather. We do our best with what we have and don't worry too much about the rest. That’s how we survive in Aghoor. We keep the paperwork in a few old folders on the table. It's not fancy, but we know where everything is when the time comes to check the accounts.
