Sonparipatil Agritech Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Dabhadi in the Kannad area. Specifically, we use Ganesh Dadasaheb Pavar’s house, number 25, as our main point of contact. Using a house as an office keeps the costs down, which is important when you are dealing with farming. We added "Agritech" to the name because we wanted to look at better ways to do things, but at the end of the day, we are still just farmers with dirt under our fingernails. Kannad has its own challenges with the land and the water. We spend our days looking at the crops and worrying about the market rates. This company is a way for us to stand together. We buy things in bulk when we can because it saves everyone a few rupees. It’s not a glamorous life. Sometimes the machinery breaks down right when you need it most, and that’s when the neighbors in the collective really come in handy. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth works just fine in a place like Dabhadi. We are just trying to be practical and keep our farms going for another generation. Most of our time is spent in the sun, not sitting behind a desk. If you come by House No. 25, you might find us drinking tea and arguing about the best time to harvest. It’s just how we live.
