Sononepatil Agro Producer Company is a small setup we have going in Hasnabad. Our main office is really just C/O Jyoti Santoshsingh Thakur at house number 283. Around here, everyone knows everyone, so we don't need a big sign out front to tell people where we are. The area code is 431135, and it’s mostly fields as far as you can see. We got together because selling our crops individually was becoming a real headache. Between the transport costs and the traders, there wasn't much left for us at the end of the season. Jyoti’s place is where we keep our ledgers and sit down to have tea and talk about the upcoming monsoon. Sometimes we disagree about which fertilizer to buy or when to harvest, but that’s just how it is when you have a bunch of farmers in one room. We aren't experts in business, but we are experts in our own land. We’ve had to learn how to fill out all these government forms, which honestly feels harder than plowing a field some days. But it's worth it to have a bit more control over our own lives. We aren't doing anything special to impress people, just trying to get a fair price for the hard work we put into the ground every single day. It’s just about keeping the village going and helping our families stay afloat.
