Shelkebandhu Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by Satish Dagdu Shelke and the rest of the family over at Mulaniwadgaon Phata. Being near Paithan, we have a bit of history with the land here. We are a family-run thing, hence the name Shelkebandhu. We didn't want to keep selling our harvests to people who didn't care about the hard work we put in. So, we set this up to take more control of our own fate. You can usually find us near the main road junction, which is a busy place with plenty of dust and noise from the passing trucks. Our office is just a simple room with a few benches. We spend our days checking the moisture in the soil or looking at the market rates on our phones. It’s not a glamorous life, and there are many days where things go wrong, like a pump failing or the price of fertilizer jumping up. We don't have any corporate slogans; we just care about our crops and our community. We try to help the other farmers nearby because we are all in the same boat. If one person has a good year, it’s good for everyone. We just keep plugging away, season after season, hoping the rain comes at the right time and the market stays steady. It’s just us, the land, and a lot of hard work. We don't need much more than that.
