Raja Janak Farmer Producer Company Limited is just a bunch of us here in Kannad trying to make things work. We are based out of Sambhaji Akolkar’s place. It’s not a big office or anything, just a spot where we meet to talk about the crops and what needs doing next. Most of us have been farming for years, and we figured it was better to do it together than alone. The weather isn't always on our side, especially with the way the seasons change lately, but we keep at it. We grow what we can and try to get a fair deal when it's time to sell. Sometimes the roads are bad or the rains are late, but that's just how it goes in our part of the world. We don't have fancy machinery or big city ways. It's mostly just hard work and hoping for a good harvest. People around here know where we are if they need to chat or if they’re looking for what we’ve grown. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just making sure our families have what they need and our land stays healthy. If you come by Kannad, you’ll see us out in the fields most days. We started this because we wanted a way to handle our own business without middle people taking everything. It is a slow process, but we are learning as we go.
