Narayangiri Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is out in Jategaon, which is in the Vaijapur area of Aurangabad. The office is at Balasaheb Bansode’s place, specifically at Gut No 206. Jategaon is a small village, and everyone knows everyone else. We named it after Narayangiri, which has a lot of meaning for the people living here. The office is just a simple room where we meet up to discuss the season. Vaijapur can be very dry, so water is always the first thing on our minds. We started this company because we saw how much better things are when we work together. It’s a lot of organizing work, trying to get the crops from the fields to the buyers without losing money. We don’t have a big budget for things like décor or advertising. Most of our members just walk or ride their bikes over to the office. We spend a lot of time on our mobile phones trying to get updates on prices. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. The paperwork is a bit of a struggle sometimes, but we help each other out with it. We are just local people trying to make a living and keep our farms going for another year. It’s hard work, but we are proud of what we are doing together in the village.
