Matrubhumi Co-Operation Producer Company Limited is tucked away in Flat No. 3 at Parvati Kunj Apartment. We are in the Nageshwarwadi area of Aurangabad. It is a bit different being in an apartment rather than out on a farm, but this is where we do all the organizing work. We work with producers from across the region. Nageshwarwadi is a central spot, which makes it easier for people to come and meet us. We deal with a lot of the paperwork and coordination that comes with a producer company. It is not a big corporate office with glass walls. It is a comfortable flat where we sit around a table and figure things out. We focus on cooperation because that is the only way small producers can survive these days. We have members who bring in their goods, and we help find the right places for them to go. Living in Aurangabad, we see a lot of change, but the need for good food and fair prices stays the same. We are not into fancy talk or marketing tricks. We just handle the business side of things so the producers can stay in their fields. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and the apartment gets crowded, but we like the energy. It feels like a family business even though we have many members. We are just regular people trying to help other regular people. It is a lot of paper, but it works.
