Lihakhedi Farmer Producer Company Limited is run right out of Vithoba Bhika Bavaskar’s place in Liha. If you know the Sillod area, specifically the Ambad district part near Aurangabad, you probably know where Liha is. Our official spot is at post Liha with the pincode 431117. We aren't some big operation with hundreds of employees or a fancy building. It is just us farmers from the village coming together to help each other out with the farming business. Vithoba’s house is where we all gather to talk about the crops and how to get them to the market. Being in Aurangabad, the weather can be a bit tricky sometimes, so having this group helps us share the load. We started this because we felt that doing things as a group made more sense than trying to fight the markets alone. It’s a very local thing, very simple and straightforward. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. Most of our day is spent checking on the plants or dealing with the equipment. When we do get together at the house, it is usually over some hot tea to figure out who needs what for their land this month. It’s just how things are done here in Liha. We keep it honest and practical. We’re just trying to make a living off the land like our fathers did before us and hope it works for everyone involved.
