We set up our spot at Plot No. 164 in Gajanan Nagar. It’s right in the Garkheda Parisar area. It's a busy neighborhood, which we like because there’s always something going on. D and D was started by people who actually understand what it takes to run a farm. We aren't sitting in some high-rise office. It’s a simple setup where we can meet and talk about the crops and the season ahead. Garkheda is a good place for us to be because it’s central for many of the folks we work with. Most days, someone is dropping by with a question or just to see how things are going. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. Usually, you just walk in and find whoever is available. We handle the business of getting things from the field to the buyers. It’s a lot of paperwork sometimes, and that can be a drag, but it's necessary. We try to keep things straightforward and honest. If a crop isn't doing well, we say so. If the market is down, we figure out a plan together. It’s more of a collective effort than a typical corporation. We’re just neighbors helping neighbors, really. It’s been a learning curve, figuring out all the rules and regulations, but we’re making it work one day at a time in this little corner of the city. It’s not much, but it’s ours.
