Bhadramaroti Mahila Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our company runs out of House Number 303 in the Gadanata area of Khultabad. It’s a local effort by the women here in Gadana, way out in the Aurangabad district. We have a lot of history in this town, and most of us have known each other since we were girls. Getting all the women together to form a producer company was a big step for us. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy sign out front. You just walk up to the house and you’ll likely find a few of us sorting through paperwork or discussing the latest prices for grain. Khultabad is a busy place with plenty of visitors, but our focus is strictly on the land and what we can produce. It’s a lot of work to keep the records straight while also managing our own farms. We started this because we wanted to have more control over where our produce goes. We don’t use any big words or complicated strategies. We just look at what we have and try to figure out the best way to get it to the market without losing too much money. Sometimes we sit until late at night under a single light bulb trying to get the accounts to balance. It’s an honest living and we are proud of being able to do it ourselves.
