If you go to Kaigao in Sillod, you will find us at Gut No 665. This is the home of Akash Dabhade Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s a local effort, really. We are in Aurangabad district, where the weather can be a bit dry sometimes. We are just a bunch of farmers who decided to stop working entirely on our own. We figured out that if we put our names together on some papers, we could maybe get a better deal on things we need for the fields. We grow all sorts of things depending on what the season says. Some days we are out there until the sun goes down, and other days we are just waiting on the rain. It’s not a glamorous life. We have dirt under our nails and we worry about the insects and the water levels. But it’s the life we know. We don’t have a big corporate office with air conditioning. We mostly meet outside or in a small room at the gut number. We talk about the crops and how to get them to market without losing too much. It’s practical, everyday stuff. We aren't looking to be the biggest company in Maharashtra. We just want to do right by our families and keep the land producing. That’s about all there is to it.
