Agnipankha Farmer Producer Company Limited is located out in Khullod, in the Aurangabad district. We run things from Sitaram Manikrao Wagh’s place. It’s a rural area, so life moves at a different pace here. We are a collective of farmers who wanted to see if we could do things a bit differently by working as one unit. The soil in this part of Maharashtra can be tricky, and the water isn't always there when you need it. By forming this company, we share the burden of finding buyers and getting the right supplies. We aren't some big business with a bunch of managers. It’s just us, the people who actually work the land. We meet up on porches or under trees to discuss the next steps for our crops. There’s a lot of talk about what worked last year and what didn't. It’s honest work and we don't try to make it sound like something it isn't. We deal with the same problems every other farmer faces, like pests and bad weather. Having the company just gives us a bit more of a voice when we go to the market. We are still learning the business side of things, but we know our crops well. If you stop by Khullod, you’ll see us out in the fields most of the time.
