Raghu Stone Industries

Over in Sarigin Village near Tadpatri, we’ve got Raghu Stone Industries. We are located near Nanyal Road. Tadpatri is famous for its stone, so there are many businesses like ours around here. But we just focus on what’s happening in our own yard. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but it’s where the work happens. We do a lot of the heavy processing. You can hear the saws cutting through the stone most of the day. It’s a loud, constant noise that you just get used to after a while. The ground is always covered in a fine layer of white dust. We wear masks and boots because it’s a messy environment. We deal with various types of stones that come from the local quarries. Our day starts before the sun is fully up because once the afternoon heat hits, it's tough to work outside. We load the finished stones onto big trucks that take them all over the region. It’s not a glamorous job. We are usually covered in grit and sweat by noon. We don't have a fancy office or a receptionist. If someone comes by, they just find one of us in the yard. We show them what we’re working on and talk about the different grades of stone. It’s a quiet village life mostly, just centered around the industry and the road.
