Jairam Granites

Our shop is over in Tharipathiri. It’s a place where everyone knows everyone else, so word of mouth is how we get most of our work. We deal with all kinds of granite. Some of it is local and some comes from further out. Working with stone is a slow process. You can’t rush the cutting or the polishing or you’ll just end up with a mess. We have a few machines that have been with us for a long time. They are old but they still do the job well enough. Most mornings we spend time sorting through the new arrivals. The dust is a constant thing here in Tharipathiri, you just get used to it being on everything you own. We don't do anything special to attract customers. We just stay open and wait for people to come in. It might be a contractor looking for twenty slabs or a guy looking for one piece for his kitchen. We treat them the same. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. Sometimes the logistics of getting the stone delivered can be a headache, especially if the roads are bad. But we manage. We’ve seen other shops come and go, but we just keep doing what we do. There isn't much more to it than that. We just work with what we have and try to get through the day's tasks before the sun goes down.
