If you head down the Nadiad Dakor Highway Road and look for the Gopalji Temple, you’ll find us right nearby. We share space with M. P. Rana & Sons in Umreth. This whole area is basically built on rice. You can hear the machines humming from the road before you even see the building. We’re an association of folks who make mamra and poha, which means there’s always a lot of talk about grain quality and weather. The sun beats down on the roof, making it pretty warm inside, but the smell of toasted rice makes it okay. We aren't a big factory with robots. It’s mostly just men and women from the village working the machines and bagging the product. The temple bells ring in the morning and evening, which gives the day a nice rhythm. We spend a lot of time sitting around the table at Rana’s place, drinking tea and figuring out the distribution. It’s a bit chaotic when the harvest comes in. Trucks are constantly turning off the highway, kicking up dust everywhere. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. You just walk in and find someone who isn't too busy to talk. It’s a community thing more than a cold business. We’ve lived here all our lives, so the work feels natural and we just keep at it because it's what we know.
