Jagdish Rice Mill

Our mill is located over at Plot No 212 in the GIDC area of Kansari. It’s part of Khambhat, down in the Anand district. We’ve been running Jagdish Rice Mill from this location for quite some time now. The GIDC is a busy place, full of different units, but we mostly stick to ourselves and our rice. Processing rice is a noisy business, with the machines humming all day long. You can smell the grain as soon as you walk through the gates. We take the raw paddy and work it through until it’s ready for the kitchen. It’s a lot of manual labor, checking the husks and making sure the machines are running smooth. We don't have a big fancy office; we usually just sit in the small room near the entrance where we keep the books. The sun gets pretty strong out here in Anand, so we start early in the morning to beat the heat. Most of our workers live nearby in Kansari or Khambhat. We’ve known them for years. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Usually, people just hear about us from their neighbors or other businesses in the GIDC. It’s a straightforward life, focused on the harvest and the milling process. We just want to do a decent job and keep the mill running for the next season. That's the way we've always done things.
