Shreenathji Dall Mill

Our mill is located right opposite the railway station in Vasad. It is a very convenient spot because we can hear the trains coming and going all day long. Shreenathji Dall Mill is a busy place where we process different kinds of pulses. The building is large and a bit noisy because of the machinery used to clean and split the dal. We have a small office near the front gate where we handle all the paperwork and talk to the truck drivers. The air always has a bit of a dusty smell to it, which is just part of the job. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices. We are just local people working to provide a staple food for the community. The office has a few simple desks and a clock that’s usually a few minutes fast. We don't have any formal uniforms; we just wear what’s practical for a mill. Sometimes the trains cause a bit of a vibration in the floor, but we don't even notice it anymore. We start our work early to beat the heat of the day. Our customers know they can just drop by because we are almost always here. We keep a stack of empty sacks in the corner and a scale that we test every morning. It's a straightforward business. We take the raw crop and turn it into something people can cook for dinner. That's the whole story of what we do here in Vasad.
