St Xaviers High School

St Xaviers High School is sitting right on Dakor Road in Umreth, which is in the Anand district. It’s a busy road so there’s always the sound of traffic passing by while we are in class. The building has been here for a long time and you can see that in the stairs and the wooden doors. We open up early in the morning, usually before the heat gets too bad. Anand is known for being a bit humid, so the fans are always humming in the background. We have a lot of kids coming in from all parts of Umreth. Some of them walk and some come on their bikes. The lunch break is usually the loudest time of the day when everyone is out in the corridors eating their tiffins. We don't have a big canteen or anything like that. The teachers sit together in a small room to have their tea and talk about the day’s plans. We try to keep things orderly, but with so many children, there is always some chaos. It’s a practical place where we focus on the books and getting through the syllabus every year. This has been our routine for a very long time now.
