Step By Step

Step By Step is over at number 8, R B Ratan Chand Road, which is in the Rose Avenue area of Amritsar. It’s a fairly quiet street, which is nice for the students who come here. The school is based in an older building that has a lot of rooms and some narrow hallways. We’ve tried to make it look a bit more cheerful by painting some of the walls in bright colors. There is a small area in the front where some plants are kept, but it isn’t really a full garden. Most of the kids who come here are quite young, so you can always hear the sound of singing or kids playing coming from the windows. Because the entrance is a bit small, it gets very crowded with parents and rickshaws when it’s time to go home in the afternoon. We have a few staff members who help look after the kids and keep the place tidy. The classrooms have small chairs and tables that fit the younger children perfectly. It’s a local institution that people in the neighborhood have grown used to seeing every day. In the afternoons, the building gets a bit of shade from the taller trees on the street. It’s not a massive school with huge facilities, but it’s a comfortable and familiar place for the families in this part of Amritsar. We just keep things running smoothly day by day without much fuss or fanfare.
