S P S Institute

Our place, S P S Institute, is located at 206, Sultanwind Road in Amritsar. Being near the B Division Thana means there is always something happening on the street, with police jeeps or people moving about in Ajit Nagar. The building itself is an older one, and you can see the 143001 area code on the mail that arrives at the front door. We spend a lot of time just moving benches around to make more space. It gets quite loud outside because Sultanwind Road is a busy stretch, but once you are inside the rooms, it settles down a little. We have a small area where we keep the registers and some pens for visitors to sign in. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they are covered with some old notices and schedules anyway. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front windows pretty hard, so we keep the curtains drawn most of the time. It’s a practical setup. There isn’t much room for anything extra, so every corner has a use, whether it’s for storing extra chalk or just a spot to keep the bags. People from around Ajit Nagar know the spot because of the landmark nearby. We just go about our business, making sure the lights are working and the water bottles are refilled for the next group of people coming in to study. It’s just a regular day-to-day routine for us here at the institute on Sultanwind Road.
