Stalwarts High

If you walk through Rani Ka Bagh in Amritsar, you will find Stalwarts High at 63 A. It is a well-known spot in this part of the city. Amritsar is full of history and busy markets, and our little corner in Rani Ka Bagh is no different. The school building sits there, right where it has been for years. We open the gates every morning as the city wakes up. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood—scooters buzzing by and people talking. Inside, we just get on with things. The classrooms have high ceilings and the hallways are usually full of the sound of kids chatting between periods. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just us, the teachers, and the staff trying to keep things moving. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that is common here. We know the parents by their faces, and they know us. It feels like a small community inside these walls. We have a small area where the kids play, and it gets quite lively during the lunch hour. By the time 143001 settles into the afternoon, we are usually wrapping things up. It isn't a perfect place, but it is our place. We just focus on the basic stuff, like making sure the kids have their books and the teachers have what they need to teach. We don't complicate things more than necessary.
