M L Public School is right here in Fatehbad, out in the Amritsar area. It’s been sitting on this spot for a good while now, and most people around here know where we are. The mornings are usually the busiest time when all the yellow buses start pulling in and the kids are running around the yard before the first bell. It’s a simple building, nothing too fancy, just classrooms and a playground that gets pretty dusty in the summer months. Most of the teachers live nearby in the village or come from just a few kilometers away. We spend a lot of time just making sure the kids stay on track with their books and don't get into too much trouble during the breaks. The office is always full of stacks of registers and parents coming in to ask about fees or how their kids are doing in math. It gets loud when the classes change, but that’s just how it is in a school like this. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks. Fatehbad is a quiet enough place except for when school lets out and the streets fill up with students heading home. It's just a regular part of the community here, helping the local families get their children through their basic schooling years without too much fuss. We just keep the gates open and the lessons moving every day.
