About Florence International School – Education in Amritsar
We’ve been here at the Verka Bypass for a good while now. Living and working in Amritsar, you get used to the bypass traffic, but inside the gates of Florence International School, it stays surprisingly quiet most of the time. Our spot in Fatehgarh Shukarchak is easy enough to find if you’re coming from the Verka side. Every morning, the buses roll in and the noise starts up, which is just part of the day. The building isn't brand new anymore, but it does the job for the kids. We spend a lot of time just keeping things running, making sure the classrooms are ready and the fans work when it gets hot out. Most of us who work here live nearby, so we know the families around Fatehgarh Shukarchak pretty well. It’s a busy place with plenty of desks and chairs to move around and lessons to get through before the afternoon bell. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out like everyone else in the neighborhood. We don’t have fancy speeches about what we do; we just show up, open the gates, and get to teaching. It’s a long day from the first bell to the last, but that’s how a school works. The dusty road outside gets a bit crowded during pick-up time, but we manage. It’s just a normal place for kids to learn and for us to work like everyone else.
