If you go down Sultanwind Road and look near the Purani Chungi, you’ll find us. Basra Engg. Works has been a fixture in this part of town for a while. We are basically a repair and fabrication shop. People bring in all sorts of broken parts or drawings for things they need built, and we see what we can do. The shop is full of lathes, welding equipment, and bits of metal from past jobs. It’s not a very organized place, I’ll admit. There are piles of shavings on the floor and tools everywhere, but we know where everything is. The noise from the road is constant, with rickshaws and bikes buzzing past the front door all day. We get a lot of walk-in business from local farmers or truck drivers who need something fixed quickly so they can get back to work. We don't have a website or anything like that. Most people just know our name because we’ve been near the Chungi for so long. It’s honest work, even if it’s greasy and loud. We take pride in being able to figure out a fix for a machine that’s been out of production for years. It’s just me and a couple of helpers, and we stay busy from morning until the sun goes down. People know if they have a mechanical problem, they can just stop by and we will take a look.
