Guru Nanak Engg. Works

Our workshop, Guru Nanak Engg. Works, is tucked away in Street No. 3 at Plot No. 5. It’s in the Gokal Ka Bagh area of East Mohan Nagar. It’s one of those streets where everyone knows each other’s business. We have been working with metal and machines for a long time now. The walls are stained with oil and there’s a permanent smell of grease in the air, which I guess is the smell of work. We have a few lathes and some old drills that still work better than the new ones you buy today. We don't have a secretary or anyone to answer the door, so if you come by, you might have to shout over the noise to get our attention. Most of our day is spent measuring things and making sure the parts fit together like they should. Sometimes we mess up and have to start over, but that’s just part of the process. We don't have a website or any of that fancy stuff. People usually find us because someone told them we do okay work. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a second to breathe. It’s a small operation, just a few of us trying to get things done right. The floor is concrete and hard on the feet, but you get used to it after twenty years. We just keep our heads down and finish the jobs that come through our door every morning.
