Our workshop, Basra Engg. Works, is over in Mohindra Colony. We are tucked away at the backside of the Atari Sahib Gurudwara in Sultanwind Pind. If you’re coming from the Main By Pass, we’re on Street Number 2. It’s a good spot, though the traffic on the bypass can be a nightmare during rush hour. The shop itself is mostly full of machines and scrap metal. We’ve got oil stains on the floor that have probably been there for years. We spend our days cutting, grinding, and fixing things that people bring in. It gets pretty loud, especially when the heavy machines are running, but you get used to it after a while. Sometimes, when things go quiet, you can hear the prayers from the Gurudwara, which is a nice change from the noise of the tools. We don’t have a front desk or anyone to greet you. If you walk in, you just have to yell over the machines to get our attention. It’s just us doing the work we know how to do. The air in the shop usually smells like burnt metal and grease. It’s a bit messy, and our clothes are rarely clean, but that’s just the nature of engineering. We stay busy with the local jobs and the folks who know we’re here on Street Number 2. We don’t make a big deal out of it. We just do the work and go home when the sun sets.
