Bala Trading & Co.

We are located over at 20/16 on Kalamegam Street, which is part of Thanigai Nagar in Kolathur. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't from this side of town, but it’s a good spot for us. Bala Trading & Co. started out pretty small, just a few of us trying to figure out the local trade. Now we have a bit more space, but it’s still mostly filled with boxes and inventory waiting to go out. The street can get a bit congested in the afternoons, especially near the post office. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking invoices against what’s actually on the shelves. It’s not the most exciting work, but it pays the bills and keeps us active. Sometimes the neighbors come by to complain about the delivery van blocking the way, and we have to go out and move it. It’s all part of being in a tight neighborhood like Thanigai Nagar. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Word of mouth is usually how people find out about what we’re doing. We try to keep the place tidy, but when a new shipment comes in, things get messy for a few days. We’re just regular people working a regular job. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the faces on the street.
