Amritsari Chawal Wala

Amritsari Chawal Wala is tucked away at 11 R.B on Rattan Chand Road. It is an old part of the city, and the building we are in really reflects that age. We deal mostly with different kinds of rice that people need for their daily meals at home. The shop isn't very big at all, so we have to stack the heavy bags high against the walls to make room. There is always a faint smell of dry grain and dust in the air. People from the local neighborhood stop by throughout the day. Some stay to talk for a bit about the weather, while others are in a big hurry to get home. Rattan Chand Road can get pretty congested with cars and bikes, so we see a lot of traffic passing by the front door. We don't use any fancy computers or modern systems here. We just have the old ledger and a metal scale that has seen better days. It is a very straightforward way of doing things. We know most of the families who buy from us by their names. The floor is made of old stone and it is worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening shadows start hitting the street outside. It is just a local spot. Nothing fancy or modern about it. We just provide what people ask for and keep the place running. It gets cold in the winter and we just wear extra sweaters.
