Ushashivaji Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Terkheda. We are located at the home of Shivaji Nivruttirao Gholap. This is in the Kallam area. It is a local operation through and through. We didn't want to go to the city to set up an office, so we just use what we have right here in the village. Terkheda is where we are all from, so it makes sense to stay close to the land we are farming. The company is basically just a way for us to pool our resources. Working with Shivaji Nivruttirao Gholap, we manage the daily tasks from his place. It’s a lot of sitting around the kitchen table or out in the yard discussing what needs to happen next. We deal with the usual stuff like seeds, fertilizers, and trying to find buyers. Some days are slow and we just wait for the rain, and other days everyone is rushing around trying to get things loaded. We don't have a professional secretary or anything like that. If the phone rings, whoever is closest to it picks it up. It’s a bit unorganized sometimes, but we know what we are doing. We are just people from the Kallam area trying to get by. If you come looking for us in Terkheda, just ask for Shivaji’s place and someone will point the way. There's usually someone around to talk, even if we're just out back.
