Down in Nazarpur, specifically at the place of Yadaorao Deeprao Boralkar, that’s where we run Shri Sant Krushi Farmer Producer Companylimited. It’s a small village in the Chandur Bazar area of Amravati. If you come looking for us, you just ask for the Boralkar house; everyone knows it. We started this because we were tired of doing everything on our own. Farming in Amravati has its ups and downs, especially with the weather being so unpredictable lately. We get together to talk about our cotton or grain and how to get a better handle on the costs. There’s a lot of walking back and forth between the house and the fields. The air is usually dusty, and there is always the sound of a tractor somewhere in the distance. We don't have any professional managers or people in suits. It’s just us farmers trying to navigate the system. We sit on the porch and go over the accounts or talk about the next harvest. Sometimes the electricity goes out for hours, so we just sit and talk in the dark. It’s a simple setup. We deal with the local markets and try to keep our costs down. It’s not always easy, and some days are better than others, but we’ve lived here our whole lives, so we know how it goes. We just do the work that needs doing every single day to keep the farms running and our families fed.
