Shikhardhara Mahila Shetkari Producer Company Limited is our group here in Bhandara. We are a bunch of women farmers from the Murmadilakhani area. Our main spot is at house number 1563. It's a local thing where we all decided to pool our efforts together. Usually, women in the fields don't get much of a say in the business side, so we started this company to handle our own affairs. It is a lot of work balancing the household and the farm, but we manage somehow. We aren't doing this for any kind of show. It’s about the actual crops we grow and how we can get a fair shake for them in the market. In Murmadilakhani, everyone knows who we are. We don't have a big office staff or anything like that. When there’s work to be done, we just meet up and sort it out among ourselves. Sometimes the crops are good, and sometimes the pests get to them, but we keep going regardless. The address at 1563 is just where we keep the records and meet when we aren't outside working. It feels right to have something of our own. We aren't looking to be the biggest company, just want to take care of our families and our land. It’s practical and it’s what we know. Life in Bhandara revolves around the seasons, and so does our work. We just do the work that’s in front of us each day.
