Tijara is a busy spot for vegetables, and our group is right in the middle of it. We are called Unnatsheel Vegetable Producer Company Limited, and you can find us near the Badi Holi area, on the road that leads to Ashlimpur. Shyodan Singh is the one whose place we use as a base. If you come by during the harvest, you’ll see crates of vegetables everywhere. We focus mostly on getting the fresh stuff from the fields to where it needs to go. Vegetable farming is fast-paced because things spoil quickly, so we have to stay on our toes. We aren't some big-city enterprise; we are just local people who know how to grow good spinach, tomatoes, and whatever else is in season. We don't use any marketing tricks or polished language. We just tell it like it is—some seasons the crops are great, and other times the pests or the heat get to them. Being part of this company helps us share the risk and maybe get a better price at the market. Most of us have been doing this since we were kids, helping our parents in the fields. We just want to make sure that the vegetable farmers in Tijara can keep their farms going without too much stress. It’s a lot of early mornings and late nights, but that is just the way it goes when you are working with the land.
