Sudevi Sakhi Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Hemant Sharma’s place in the village of Sunherateh, which is in the Kaman area. This group is really about the people living and farming right here. The word 'Sakhi' is important to us because it shows how we all work together like friends or family. In Sunherateh, life revolves around the seasons and what the ground can give us. We spend our days out in the fields or meeting up to discuss how to get better seeds or tools. It’s a grassroots kind of thing. We aren't some distant company with a big office. We are right here in the village where the work happens. Hemant helps keep things organized, but everyone plays a part. It can be hard work, especially when the weather isn't doing what it’s supposed to do. We talk about our problems and try to find simple solutions that work for everyone. There is a lot of tradition in how we farm, but we are also trying to learn a few new things to make the yields better. It’s just about making a decent living and keeping the community strong. We don't have any marketing tricks. We just show up every day and do the work that needs doing. That’s really all there is to it, just keeping the land and the people healthy.
