Sushil Chandra Meetal Inter College

We’ve been here in Gaumat for a while now. The school building is situated right on the main stretch of the Aligarh road. Most days are quite busy with kids coming in from all the nearby villages. It gets pretty loud during the morning breaks, but that is just how it is when you have a few hundred students in one place. We have the usual classrooms and some open space in the middle where the students tend to hang out when it isn't too hot outside. The teachers mostly live around here in the neighborhood too. Sometimes the power goes out during the day, so we just keep the windows open to let the light in. It isn’t a fancy place at all, just a regular inter college for the local community. We try our best to keep the grounds tidy, though the dust from the passing trucks on the road makes that a difficult task. People in Gaumat know us by name and we know most of the families. It’s a very simple setup. We deal with the mountains of paperwork and the board exams like everyone else does. The gate is opened early in the morning and stays that way until the last bell rings in the afternoon. We have some labs and old wooden desks. They aren't modern, but they work fine. Life here in Gaumat moves at its own steady pace. Some days are stressful but mostly it's just the daily routine.
