Mahadevi Academy

Mahadevi Academy is located out in Village Guyyenpur, which is part of the Chandaus Block in Aligarh. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, away from the main city buzz. Being in a village, things are much slower and quieter than in Aligarh town. The school building is surrounded by fields and a few other houses. We have a good amount of space, which is nice. Most of the children walk here from the nearby homes in the village. We don't have all the modern gadgets you see in city schools. We have basic classrooms, some benches, and plenty of fresh air. The dusty roads lead right up to our gate. During the harvest time, you can see the tractors moving back and forth nearby. It’s a very different life here. We start our day when the sun is up and finish before it gets too late. The staff members are mostly local people from this block. We spend our time teaching the basics and making sure the kids have a safe place to be during the day. It’s a simple life. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything. We just rely on people knowing who we are and seeing the work we do. It gets cold in the winter and very dusty in the summer, but we are used to it. We have a few simple rooms with whiteboards and some charts on the walls about different subjects. The floors are just plain concrete, so they are easy to sweep out at the end of the day. We don't have a big library, just a few shelves of books that the kids share. It’s a humble place.
