Shashi Kanya Int College

We are located right in Ward 3 of Vijaygarh, which is a busy little part of Aligarh. Being an intermediate college for girls, our mornings are always full of chatter as the students walk through the gate. Most of the staff here have been around for years, so we’ve seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood over time. The building has its quirks, like the door in the staff room that sticks when it rains, but it feels like home to us. We spend a lot of time organizing schedules and making sure the classrooms are ready. It's not always quiet; actually, it’s rarely quiet until after three in the afternoon. We have some trees in the front that provide decent shade during the summer months when Aligarh gets really hot. There’s always someone coming by the office to ask about admissions or just to drop off a lunchbox their daughter forgot at home. We keep things simple here. The walls are covered with some old charts and a few drawings the students made last year. It’s just a place where people come to learn and work. We don’t have anything too fancy, just the desks, the blackboards, and a lot of daily tasks to get through. Sometimes the chai man comes by around eleven, and that’s when we take a quick break before the next set of classes starts up again. It is a lot of work, but we are used to the routine.
