S M B Inter College

S M B Inter College sits on Ramghat Road in Aligarh. It’s a pretty busy part of town, so there’s always something going on outside our gates. The building has been here for years, and you can tell by looking at the bricks and the old doors. We have a lot of students coming from different parts of Aligarh every day. Some walk, some come on cycles. It’s a big place, and it gets loud during the breaks when everyone is out in the hallways. We don’t have fancy stuff here. The desks are wooden and some are a bit old, but they work fine. The teachers spend their day going from one class to another, trying to cover the syllabus before the exams start. It’s hard work for everyone. During the winters, the sun feels nice in the open areas, but in the summer, we all look for the fans. We have a staff room where we sit and talk about how the classes are going over tea. It’s not a corporate office, just a school where we try to help the boys and girls get through their intermediate years. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out. Life moves along one day at a time here. We focus on the daily routine, making sure the registers are marked and the lessons are taught. It’s a local place for local families. We've got our hands full but it's okay for us.
