Pushpa Devi Girls College

Pushpa Devi Girls College is right there in Gandhi Market in Etah. It’s a busy spot and sometimes the noise from the market shops comes right into the front office. We have been operating here for quite a while now. The building is just a regular structure with several rooms that we’ve turned into classrooms. We have benches that are a bit old and the walls could probably use a new layer of paint soon. We don’t have a big campus with grass or anything, but we make do with what we have. Most of the girls who study here come from the nearby villages or from right here in town. They usually arrive by rickshaw or walk through the market lanes. Our staff is just a small group of people who handle everything from admissions to cleaning up at the end of the day. We have a small library with some books, and we try to keep it quiet in there. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, so we just open the windows for some air. It’s a very simple place and we don’t try to be anything fancy. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the exams happen on time. It’s a local place for local families. We use paper registers for everything and the office desk is usually covered in folders and pens. The local tea stall sends over some glasses of chai for the staff every morning.
