Mavelikara Farmer Producer Company Limited

We’re over in Eravankara, right in the Thazhakkarapart area of Mavelikara. Our place is called Cottayil. It’s not a big fancy office, just a spot where we gather to talk about the crops and how to get better prices for what we grow. Being a producer company means we are all in this together, mostly small farmers from the neighborhood. Some days we just sit on the porch and argue about the cost of fertilizer or the rain clouds. It's a quiet part of Mavelikara, which is nice because you can actually hear yourself think. We started this because it was getting harder to do everything alone. Now we share the load. The address is easy to find if you know the post office. We have a lot of tea while we look over the books. Farming isn't an easy life, but it's ours. We don't spend money on shiny signs or big ads. Most people know us by word of mouth anyway. The soil around here is decent if you treat it right. We try to look out for each other. Sometimes the meetings go long and we end up staying late just chatting about the old days. It is just a group of local farmers trying to make things work in a world that keeps changing. We’re usually there if the sun is up, unless there is a festival or someone needs help in their field. It is a slow life but it is busy in its own way.
