We set up Karnawat Agro & Cold Services Llp here in Shelu Bazar because farmers in Washim really needed a place to keep their stuff cold. If you drive down the road at Post Shelu Bazar in Mangrulpir, you’ll find us easily enough. It gets really hot around here in Maharashtra, and when the crops come in all at once, things just spoil if they aren't kept right. We started this at Shelu Khurda 444403 because we saw so much food going to waste. It’s a lot of work running a cold storage place. The machines need constant looking after and the electricity can be a bit tricky sometimes in our part of Washim. We spend most of our mornings checking the temperature gauges and making sure everything is stacked properly so the air flows around. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a big building where we try to help people keep their onions or whatever else they grow from rotting before they can sell it. Most of the guys working here are from the nearby villages. We know the local farmers by name and they know they can just drop by when the harvest starts. It's a simple business but it keeps us busy from sunrise till late. Sometimes the trucks arrive late at night and someone has to be there to open the gates. That is just how it goes in the agro business here.
