It is a local setup, through and through. We do not have any of those fancy mission statements or marketing slogans hanging on the walls. Mostly, we just have calendars and a few notes pinned up about the current season. Vakana is a small place, so news travels fast and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We spend our days dealing with the realities of farming life in Sangrampur. Sometimes that means worrying about the rain and other times it is about the prices at the market. Our office is just a room in the house where we have set up some tables and chairs. It is functional and that is about it. We do not try to impress anyone who walks in. If you come by, you will probably find Rajkumar or one of the other guys looking over some ledgers or talking on the phone to a supplier. It is a lot of manual work and staying organized is a constant struggle, but we manage. We are not a big corporation, just a group of people in Vakana trying to do right by the local farmers. It is simple, it is a bit messy sometimes, but it is our daily life. We just keep moving forward with whatever the day brings to our door.
