Ashok Watch & Mobile House

You can find us at Ashok Watch & Mobile House right on Station Road, at units 1 and 2. It's a busy spot because of the train station nearby, so there's always a lot of foot traffic. One side of the shop is full of watches—mostly the ones with needles, but we have digital ones too. The other side is where we keep the mobile phones and all the colorful plastic cases. I spend a lot of time looking through a magnifying glass at tiny gears and watch batteries. It’s quiet work even though the street outside is loud with rickshaws and people rushing for their trains. We have a glass counter that’s seen better days, it’s got a few scratches from all the phones people slide across it. Sometimes someone comes in with an old watch their grandfather gave them, and I try to see if I can make it tick again. Other times it’s just someone needing a new screen guard for their phone because they dropped it on the tracks. We have a small stool for customers to sit on while they wait, but mostly they just stand and look at the wall clocks. The batteries are kept in little plastic drawers that I’ve labeled by hand. It’s just a small family place where we fix things and sell whatever people need for their electronics. We stay open late because of the evening trains coming in.
