We’ve been at the Vimurti Complex for quite a while now. Our office is B-8, right opposite the Oxford Tower. It gets really loud on Gorukul Road sometimes, especially in the afternoons when everyone in Memnagar is out and about. We spend most of our mornings just checking the big bags of spices that come in from the suppliers. It’s a lot of work making sure everything is where it should be on the shelves. The smell of the ground powders stays on your clothes all day, but you get used to it after a week or so. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs. It’s not a fancy place, just where we do our daily business. My desk is usually covered in papers and little sample packets that we need to sort through. We just started doing this because it seemed like a good idea at the time. It’s mostly just us and a few guys moving heavy boxes around the back. Customers drop by once in a while, but a lot of what we do is just the logistics and getting things sent out to other shops. It’s dusty work, to be honest. We try to keep the floors clean but when you’re dealing with spices, something always spills out of the bags. You just sweep it up and keep going. The neighbors are alright, mostly other small businesses. We close up around 7 usually. It’s just a normal life for us here in Ahmedabad.
