Our place is at 1498, Bardolpura, which is right near the Municipal Zonal Office in Madhupura. If you know that area, you know it’s always busy with trucks and people moving goods around. We do spices here. The smell of chili and turmeric is so strong it stays on your clothes even after you go home. It’s an old building, nothing like those modern offices you see in the new parts of the city. We’ve got machines for grinding and long tables for sorting through everything. It gets quite loud when everything is running at once. My grandfather started with just a small setup and we just grew bit by bit over the years. We don’t use any fancy talk to describe what we do. We just buy the raw stuff, clean it, grind it, and put it in bags. There’s a lot of dust from the spices, so we have to clean the floors a few times a day. Madhupura is a tough place to work sometimes because of the heat and the crowds, but it’s where all the trade happens. We are just one of many businesses here trying to do a decent job. Most of our workers live nearby and have been coming here for a long time. It’s just a regular spice business at the end of the day.
