Umiya Anaj Masala Bhandar

We set up Umiya Anaj Masala Bhandar over at Plot 134 in Swami Narayan Park. It’s a busy area near the Haridarshan Cross Road in Nava Naroda, so there is always a lot of traffic and people moving around. We handle a mix of grains and spices here. People come in looking for stuff to stock their pantries for the month. It’s a straightforward shop. We spend our mornings sorting through the grain and getting the spice blends ready. The shop isn't very large, but we make use of every corner we have. Sometimes the dust from the flour gets everywhere, and we have to keep cleaning the counters. We aren't trying to do anything fancy. It’s just about having the basics ready for the families living nearby. A lot of our regulars live right here in the park or just across the road. We know most of them by name now. Running a bhandar like this takes a lot of heavy lifting, moving sacks around and keeping track of what’s in stock. We just stay open through the day and close up when the sun goes down. It’s steady work and keeps us busy. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop where people can come and see what we have. It works out fine for us and the community.
