Being at 114 in the New Cloth Market is a bit of a workout every day. If you’ve ever been to Raipur in Ahmedabad, you know how it is. The place is packed with trucks and people carrying huge rolls of fabric on their shoulders. We started Taanush Polyfab LLP here because this is where the action happens, even if it gets really dusty and hot in the afternoons. Our shop isn't very big, but we manage to fit a lot in. There are samples of polyester and blended fabrics tucked into every corner and shelf we could find. We spend a lot of time on the phone with weavers or checking the quality of the latest batch that came in. It's not a quiet job at all. You can hear the shouting from the market outside all day long. We drink a lot of tea while we sit and talk to customers who have been coming to this market for years. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we just sit on the steps and wait. It’s a very simple way of doing things, really. We don’t have fancy marketing people or anything like that. It’s just us, the cloth, and the daily grind of the Ahmedabad textile scene. We try to keep things honest and just get the orders out on time, even when the traffic in Raipur makes it nearly impossible for the transport tempos to move.
