Pepper & Spices (India)

Our place is at Plot No. 4 in Jhaveri Park. We are right near the Little Flower School in Paldi. During the day, you can hear the kids playing during their break time, which is actually quite nice. It breaks up the silence while we are working with the spices. We deal with a lot of heavy sacks here. The smell of pepper is always in our clothes, no matter how much we wash them. It’s a small operation, really. We don't have a big shiny showroom. It’s mostly just storage and a small space for us to sit and handle the orders. We’ve been in Paldi for quite some time. The neighbors are mostly families, so we try not to be too loud with the deliveries. It’s a bit of a squeeze when the big trucks come in, but we make it work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in India. We just want to provide what people need and keep our regulars happy. Some days are frantic with everyone wanting their stuff at once. Other days, we just sit back and organize the shelves. It’s honest work. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just pack spices and move them along. That’s our day. It is mostly just about getting the weight right and making sure the bags are tied properly before they head out.
